The first time I stepped into a rickhouse in Kentucky 15 years ago, I was overwhelmed with emotion as the aroma of aging Bourbon permeated my being. I knew then that I’d found my calling. The next fifteen years would be committed to educating others about spirits. What I have come to understand over the last fifteen years is that distilled spirits are so much more than just a drink. They represent cultures, communities and relationships around the world.
Those of you that have come to know me over the years know that I am passionate about spirits and their origins and elements. This project has been a longtime desire of mine, and now (with your help) I'd like to bring it to life. This project will start as an exploration of how spirits integrate with culture in the United states over the next 6 months and then migrate towards either Europe, Canada or Mexico (depending on scheduling in the local markets).
Taste is just the beginning of this exploration. This project will bring spirits from around the globe into perspective as I explore the deep cultural and social elements. I will designate a different cause to support for each year of the project.
This first fundraising will support:
• Travel across the US and abroad to interview distillers, historians, and artists to awaken the untold stories of spirits as they've been woven through various cultures.
• Website design, development, and maintenance
• Original video content development and editing
(10% of everything raised in this initial round will be donated to the Kingsley Association (http://kingsleyassociation.org/) in support of the Larimer community here in Pittsburgh. As the project grows, it will support other communities around the nation and the world.)
Please support this campaign to follow my progress and share with your friends! Thank you all for helping to make this dream a reality!
All the best
